No. 1 The Blind Typist
A blind British typist sits down at a computer and carefully types the following string of characters. For this brainteaser establish what the typist intended to enter and give a brief explanation of what went wrong.
G W K K I Q I E K S
The solution was of course
H E L L O W O R L D
The typist had inadvertently pressed the keys one key to the left from the intended key. Since no character in the intended phrase or the accidental phrase contained the letters 'F' or 'J' (The keys raised to help blind people avoid this problem) the mistake was not noticed.

Hi, Well, what (s)he intended to write was "HELLO WORLD", and the error was placing both the left and the right hand offset=20 one character to the left on the typewriter, so that when the typist thought (s)he pressed H, the key actually pressed was G. (the typist used the standard hand placement on the keyboard).

Subject: gwkki qieks.
Well, seems to me like the blind person misplaced his hands on the = keyboard, one character to the left, thus spelling gwkki qieks instead = of the intended "Hello World".
However, this 'mistake' can only be made with a 'symmetrical' keyboard. = On my own keyboard, a mistake like this is not easy to make since you = feel a slight change in relative distance in between the keys when you = mistakenly shift your fingers one key to the left or to the right.=20

Hello, I may have the solution to your first brain teaser. The typist intended to type the phrase "Hello World", but he pressed the key to the right of each one he intended to press. He simply put his hands on the wrong keys so each time he tried to press a key he pressed the wrong one, and since he was blind he wouldn't very well detect the mistake.
Hope this is at least somewhat right :)

Instead of placing his fingers in the "standard" keyboard position (left fingers on ASDF, right fingers on JKL;), the blind typist mistakingly offset his fingers offset one to the right (left fingers on SDFG, right fingers on KL;'). So when the typist actually meant to type "Hello World", he actually typed "Gwkki Qieks".

He meant to type "hello world" but had his hands on the wrong keys. His right hand had the index finger on the 'h' key while his left index finger was on the "d" key. Interestingly enough, had he tried to type an 'a' 'q' or 'z' he problably would have detected that he at least had his left hand incorrect as these don't map to a standard typewriter key with his left hand in the wrong position. Hello,
The blind typist meant to say 'Hello World.' His mistake was that he = had his hands positioned one key right of the offset keys (so F became G = and J became K). One other clue that might of given it away was the 'k's = and the 'i's. Having the two 'k's and an 'i', then another 'i' in the = next word kinda gave it away to me that it might be 'Hello World,' which = further investigation revealed it was.
A way to make a teaser like this even more evil is to have him type at = a Dvorak keyboard, and not bother to mention it :)

What the typise was supposed to type was:
Hello world
the reason the blind typist did not type this was because they had their fingers placed on the keyboard wrong. The blind typist would have learnt to touch type, and therefore would know where the keys where in relation to the standard hand placement.
Unfortunately, the blind typist had their hands one to many keys to the left, and ended up typing qwkki qieks --

That's just too easy!
He meant to type: hello world
He simply started off with his fingers on the wrong home keys(G and K instead of F and J), therefore every subsequent key he typed was off by one to the right. (i.e. G=H, W=E, K=L, etc.)
I tend to do that sometimes myself, and I'm not even blind!

He(or she) intended to enter "hello world", but he(or she) failed to find correct key position. So he(or she) typed every right-side key. Correct Answer? :)
BTW, every computer keyboard has some tactile 'dot' on 'F' and 'J' key. Blinds are very touch-sensitive people. They wouldn't fail the find correct key. :)

I'm not 100% certain but it probably has to do the where the little bumps appear on the two keys on the keyboard. On some keyboards the bumnps are on the d & k keys and on other they are on the f & j keys.

He tried to type "HELLO WORLD" and hit the keys to the left of those he wanted. This would not happen to a blind typist normally, since there are usually (at least on all keyboards I have seen) nice bumps on the 'F' and 'J' keys allowing you to find them even without seeing the keyboard.

The typist meant to type 'hello world' but they started with their hands one key to the right, not being able to see the keyboard. If you hit the keys one to the left but still type the same string, you will type 'gwkki qieks'; the space will be the same because the space bar is wide enough that one characted doesn't make a difference.
